The Master in Professional and Institutional Translation is an official program of European excellence, member of the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) Network, which provides specialized training in translation tools, scientific-technical translation, legal-economic translation and audiovisual translation.

The program is aimed at any student with a university degree (Philology, Translation and Interpretation, Law, Economics, Engineering, Education, Tourism, etc.) with a good command of a first foreign language (English, French or German) and a good enough knowledge of a second language (English, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, Dutch or Czech), interested in the practice of professional translation and international organizations.


The Faculty of Translation and Interpretation has been bringing languages and cultures to our campus, in Soria, for more than 20 years. This Faculty, unique at the University of Valladolid, offers all the existing degrees at the University level: Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate. All of them are highly regarded at both the national and international stage.

The Faculty of Translation and Interpretation is one of the centers of the University of Valladolid with the largest number of Erasmus agreements (72 at present), covering most European countries and even spreading to other continents. There are also numerous collaboration agreements with universities in Europe, America and Asia for scientific action and the development of dual degrees. Our professors and students benefit from the exchange of experiences of the European Master’s Network (EMT), which consists of 64 European Union programs of excellence.

This Master’s program follows the guidelines of the Royal Decree 1393/2007 of October 29th about university education adapted to the European Higher Education Area, and takes as starting point the guidelines on competences stated at the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) site.



The Master’s program has a high job placement rate for our graduates. Some of the main jobs that our students undertake are: translation services either freelance or at national or international agencies, the publishing industry, linguistic and intercultural mediation in the field of law, economics, engineering, health sciences, tourism, migration and immigration, the collaboration with public administrations in the areas of Justice, Social Services, Security, Cooperation and Development, Diplomatic Corps, etc.





The Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, located in a beautiful natural setting in the new and modern Campus Duques de Soria, has state-of-the-art facilities, which include a multimedia laboratory, two interpretation rooms connected through fiber optics, a dubbing laboratory, four computer laboratories, two remote broadcasting rooms and a classroom for tele-training. The Faculty puts the most important translation software tools at the student’s disposal, such as the most popular Computer-assisted translation (CAT) programs (Trados, Wordfast, Déjà vu) or subtitling programs.


The Campus building also has 3 videoconference rooms.

The Superior Technical Faculty of Telecommunication Engineering of the University of Valladolid, which organizes the teaching of Telematic Systems Location, has a section of the laboratory 2L023, whose equipments are connected creating a Local Area Network (LAN) through the necessary devices (switch D- Link 1008D 8 ports 10/100 Mbps, etc.). One of these equipments is used as a server to host the platform of e-learning and multimedia materials that correspond to the different courses of the Master’s.
